FreeBSD 7.0 released

The long awaited FreeBSD 7.0 Release is out.
Some highlights include:

  • Better scalability and performance improvements on SMP systems (benchmarks showed linear scaling on machines with 8 CPUs)

  • Improved the ULE and 4BSD schedulers

  • the new and highly scalable memory allocator jemalloc

  • Reading of XFS volumes

  • experimantal support of Sun's ZFS
